About the owner / editor and site CQ Recollections
Mary-Anne captures bygone stories for the benefit of current and future generations. She offers her research skills for folk wanting to discover more about their roots, particularly in Central Queensland.
As a 5th generation Central Queenslander, the stories, landscapes, and enduring spirit of our region are not just history to Mary-Anne; they are a part of who she is. Her journey into founding CQ Recollection began on a warm afternoon spent poring over old family albums and keepsakes. Each photograph, each handwritten note was a gateway to a bygone era, whispered tales of hardship, triumph, and the indomitable spirit of the communities that have thrived in the shadow of the Fitzroy Basin and along the vibrant Capricorn Coast.
Fuelled by a passion to preserve these precious narratives, CQ Recollection was born out of a desire to connect people with their roots, to ensure that the stories of our ancestors and the land we call home are not forgotten but cherished and passed on. It is more than just a project; it is a mission to keep the history of Central Queensland alive for current and future generations.
